Beverley Town Academy host West Hull Amateurs in what will be the first game for their new manager Stew Scott says he backing towns youngsters to impress.
Following the departure of Craig Kitchen, Scott has taken on the role and the responsibility to turn around the team’s fortunes on the pitch.
With just a single goal all season, and stuck in the relegation zone, Scott says he is looking forward to the challenge, he said;
“I’m looking forward to the challenge ahead, it’s been a tough start for the lads in what is a strong league. Craig did a great job and sadly had to step down, just as the lads where starting to gain a bit of confidence.”
“From what I hear they were unlucky last week, losing 1-0 to Hutton Cranswick in the cup, who are in the league above. I aim to stick with the young lads, adding one or two older heads to help them progress as individuals and as a team.”
“We have West Hull this weekend which will be a tough game, but I believe in the lads to get their first win of the season. The lads know how important training is and have promised to put the hard work in, in order to get the result we need.”
“Training has certainly paid off for our reserve team as they are top of the County Premier League, remaining unbeaten. Players have been coming up from academy and keeping their position in the reserve team.”
“Jake Cattermole got given his chance a few weeks ago and he’s taken it, proving to be one of the better players last week in a 4-3 win to Flamborough. That’s what I want from the academy lads, to be banging on the door in the reserve team and to give manager Edward Grady a selection headache.”
“If people are banging on the door to get in, it can make his team maintain their standard of performance. Hopefully we will get a few local fans down at Longcroft on Saturday at 2pm to support the lads.”
