AFC Tickton Pirates have expressed their gratitude to local businesses who supported them in their fund raising efforts to buy a defibrillator to be placed at Longcroft School.
The Pirates, who play in the U11s Hull Boys Sunday Football League raised cash by holding a Tombola at their end of season presentation night.
Firms from Beverley including Boots, De Lacy Spa, The Tiger Inn, Mega Fun, The Potting Shed, Tasr and Tesco have all given their support to help the U11s achieve their goal.
Morgan Houriha, manager of the Pirates and Vice Chairman of the club explained why they felt it was important that a defibrillator installed at Longcroft School, he said;
“It was needed especially with what has been going on lately in football lots more with people collapsing, it’s been in the news a lot.”
“With so many kids and so many spectators up here on Sunday we felt it was defiantly important to have one . If they could get to have one at every school, not just for us but also for the wider community it would be a great thing.”
“Kirsty Brumpton from the club has been the driving force behind this project and this is yet another fine example of the work she does for the club.”
MP Graham Stuart, a Defibrillator Champion went to meet with the team after learning of their efforts to get a defibrillator, he said;
“This is a fantastic step forward for the Longcroft site.”
“Not only are there all the school children here on a daily basis but we have so many children using the facilities at the weekends including AFC Tickton, and now there is going to a be defibrillator on site.”
“I would like to congratulate all those from AFC Tickton who identified the need and have worked so hard to make sure that it is delivered. “
“Let us hope we can see public access defibrillators in every area such as this right across Beverley & Holderness area.”
