Cricket legend and one of Yorkshire’s greatest living heroes Geoffrey Boycott OBE will be joining the speaker list for The Business Day at Bridlington Spa on Friday 8th June 2018.
His announcement follows that of Joanna Lumley who was recently announced as the headline speaker for the prestigious event as part of Humber Business Week.
Geoffrey Boycott is a former Yorkshire and England cricketer. In a prolific and sometimes controversial playing career from 1962 to 1986, Boycott established himself as one of England’s most successful opening batsmen and since retiring as a player, he has found further success as a cricket commentator.
He is currently a member of BBC Radio 4 long wave’s Test Match Special commentary team, as well as Channel 5’s TV highlights and Test Match Special. He is going to Australia later this month to commentate on the Ashes for BT Sport.
He has written widely on a number of works on cricket, including his own autobiography and writes articles for the Daily Telegraph.
He was President of Yorkshire County Cricket Club between March 2012 and March 2014.
Councillor Stephen Parnaby OBE, Leader, East Riding of Yorkshire Council is delighted to have secured his presence saying;
“I was privileged to meet with Geoffrey at Welcome to Yorkshire’s White Rose Awards recently and after explaining the event to him he readily agreed to be part of the day. We will be announcing other speakers and the overall program which I am sure will be a sell-out as was the 2017 event with over 650 delegates attending.
“The Business Day places business networking at the heart of a day of discovery and insight and we advise people and companies to buy tickets early to avoid disappointment.”
The Business Day will take place at Bridlington Spa on Friday 8 June 2018.
Tickets cost £125 per person, or £1,000 for 10. For more information, or to book tickets go to bridspa.com or call 01262 678258.
