Anybody interested in trying a new sport or a new weekly hobby can come and play indoor volleyball at East Riding Leisure Bridlington.

The session is for anyone aged 18+ and is open to all abilities. The adult Indoor Volleyball Club is the only one of its kind within the East Riding.

The club is run by East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s Sport, Play & Arts Service and takes place on Monday evenings, from 6.30pm till 7.30pm in the Sports Hall. There is no need to book – participants can just turn up on the evening and pay at reception. The cost to attend the club is £2.20.

The club was launched on Monday, 20 March, 2017 and has proved to be very popular. Ben Pipes (London 2012 GB Volleyball Captain) attended the launch of the club and has continued to support it throughout the summer.

Councillor Richard Burton, portfolio holder for leisure, tourism and culture, said:

“Volleyball has plenty of benefits when improving both physical and mental health. It can also help improve muscular endurance, strength and overall flexibility of your body. So why not get involved and give it a go!”

The establishment of the volleyball club forms part of the council’s Active Coast Programme, which aims to ‘provide residents and visitors with opportunities to get active, be healthy and enjoy life on the East Yorkshire coast’.
