Do you have what it takes to deliver the most exciting history project the Humber region has ever seen?
If so, the Humber Bridge Board wants to hear from you.
The Board is recruiting a project manager for the recently-announced Hidden Histories initiative, an oral history project which will unlock the stories behind the region’s most iconic landmark.
Hidden Histories, which has been awarded £65,700 from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF), will involve recruiting volunteers to talk to residents, architects, engineers, labourers and management to capture experiences and feelings about the bridge.
The successful candidate will also be responsible for delivering events, workshops, a travelling exhibition and, ultimately, an exciting festival celebrating how the bridge has shaped local communities and the lives of local people.
Dr Kevin Moore, Chief Executive of the Humber Bridge, said the Board was looking to appoint and inspirational candidate who could bring the bridge’s history to life.
He said:
“The Humber Bridge plays a tremendous part in the lives of local people and those who live further afield, but none of that heritage has been captured, so we need to make a start on documenting it.
“The role of the project manager will be to co-ordinate that, along with delivering a whole programme of fantastic events over the course of the year.
“From the stories we uncover, we will be creating a digital archive which will be fully accessible to anyone, meaning those whose lives have been touched by the bridge, or people with just a passing interest, can hear the hidden and often inspirational stories behind this most beloved of landmarks.”
Deadline for applications is 5pm on January 8th. An application pack can be downloaded from: http://www.humberbridge.co.uk/recruitment/recruitment.php.
The role, which is offered on a freelance consultancy basis, will commence early next year and will be completed by June 30th, 2019.
Hidden Histories also aims to launch a heritage volunteers programme to train local people in developing event management and marketing skills, as well as to continue working on this archive.
