Staff at Beverley Building Society say that people in Beverley have been very generous in supporting the Viking FM Mission Christmas Appeal.
Their comments come after the branch in Saturday Market was again a collection point for gifts that will be donated to disadvantaged children across the region.
Staff at the Society say that they collected numerous gifts as their customers coming in the branch also got behind appeal, leaving toys in the donation box.
Becky Gibbon, from Beverley Building Society said;
“The appeal in the branch has gone really well. We have filled up our collection box a few times. People have be really generous and have donated some wonderful presents.”
Katie Ederton, from the Viking FM Mission Christmas Appeal said;
“We are now collecting in all the gifts and working hard to get them out to over 21,000 children in our region.”
“While we do not have the exact figures, we will have them by Friday. It is a campaign run across 23 radio stations but what is donated locally supports local children.”
“In the new year we will be sending personal letters to all of the businesses who supported the campaign, and thanking our key sponsors for their wonderful support.”
Drop of points in Beverley and across the wider region have been collecting gifts since 13 November, with the organisers collecting the donation boxes from Beverley locations this week.
Recipients of the gifts are identified by social services, healthcare providers, schools, women’s refuges, hospices, youth groups, children’s homes, charities and children’s centres.
Workers for the charity are now pulling out all the stops to ensure the gifts get to the right people so they can get children in Yorkshire and Lincolnshire in time for Christmas Day.
Last year Mission Christmas, thanks to amazing support raised over £1 million in gifts and cash and made Christmas special for over 20,700 local children.
