A new activity based group for pre-schoolers is coming to Beverley as Opera North launches its popular Little Singers next week at the East Riding Theatre.
Opera North say they aim to get those tiny toes tapping at their workshops which encourage youngsters to enjoy music in relaxed environment.
Opera North Education Director, Jacqui Cameron, explained more, she said;
“We’re delighted to be opening a new Little Singers, enabling people from Beverley and the surrounding areas to come along and join us each week for music and singing activities.”
“By running fun, interactive sessions for younger years, we aim to build an association between music and enjoyment from a very early age.”
“Little Singers is a great opportunity for both adults and children to make new friends and to discover the pleasure and well-being that comes from singing with others.”
Opera North say the move to Beverley will build on the success of Little Singers in Leeds which has gone from strength to strength since it was launched several years ago.
Following projects they were invovled with linked to Hull City of Culture, they add Beverley was the logical choice for them to set up their latest workshop.
Led by professional artists, the 45-minute workshops have been designed to encourage babies, toddlers, and children up to four years of age, to enjoy music.
Youngsters and their accompanying grown-ups will get to learn new songs while exploring instruments and playing games together.
Sue Kirkman, the East Riding Theatre Manager said;
“ERT is eager to introduce younger audience members to the theatre and this is a fantastic opportunity for them to enjoy a weekly fun session held in the intimacy of our meeting room. The sessions are on a ‘drop-in’ basis so, if you miss one, you don’t have to worry about having paid for a whole course.”
“This format of singing sessions has been well tested by Opera North and proved hugely successful in other venues.”
“It’s easy, children just bring along an accompanying adult on a Thursday morning and we do the rest!”
Workshops will get under way on the 11 January at 10.30AM and will run every Thursday during term-time.
Tickets for each session are priced at £5 per child. They can be booked in advanced online through the ERT web site or you can simply turn up on the day.
