Richard Twigger says his side can beat anyone on their day adding that Walkington AFC will learn a lot about themselves this weekend as they face league leaders Chalk Lane.
Walkington moved above local rivals Beverley Town FC in the Humber Premier League last week after they claimed a good win away at Hornsea Town.
Speaking to HU17.net, Twigger whose side have won their last two games said;
“We enjoyed another good performance last weekend giving us back to back wins. We came from behind twice, which is pleasing as we have not done that too often before.”
“This shows what great team spirit and willingness to work for each other we have in our camp.”
“Will need to call upon those qualities against this week against league leader’s Chalk Lane.”
Chalk Lane are flying high in the Humber Premier League having lost just three times all season and are odds on to win the title.
Twigger knows this will not be an easy test for his side, commenting on the game he said;
“I am not surprised they are top as they are the best team we have played this season and well organised. However, we will be up for the challenge and give everything.”
“On our day, we are capable of beating anyone so will be going in to the game full of confidence.”
“It will be a good judge of how far we have come this season at this level.”
“Myself and all the players are really looking forward to it.”
This is a big ask for Walkington, who have only just rediscovered their form after suffering a heavy defeat to South Cave United and the disappointment of losing the derby to rivals Beverley Town.
Twigger will need all his players to click from the off if they are to get anything against a Chalk Lane side that scores for fun and who have the best defensive record in the Humber Premier League.
