Mr. Hunter says he has just been made aware of the site and will put it to the Estates Department to investigate further, he said;

“It’s been the situation for a while now that we are looking for an alternative site for Beverley Police Station.”

“All options are open including staying at the current site or sharing with community safety partners, but there have been no decisions made yet.”

“When I was made aware of that possible location I informed our estates department and asked them to have a look at it, to see if it would ever be capable of being a base for police.”

“So this  a new option we weren’t aware of and we are quite open to having a different footprint in Beverley which is more suited to modern policing.”

An active site, Beverley Police Station is use by community police officers and also police investigations teams.

HU17.net understands Humberside Police are keen on finding a more ‘central’ location ideally in the centre of the town to enable them to save money while also delivering better services to the community.

Humberside Police like many forces are under increasing financial pressures with residents in Beverley raising many concerns over the lack of policing and increase in crime rates.

Households will in Beverley and throughout the region will be asked to find extra cash after Mr. Hunter’s proposals to increase the police portion of council tax were approved.
