Tuesday saw the launch of the 2018 Bennetts British Superbike season with the media day being held at Donington Park.
Beverley’s James ‘Westy’ Westmoreland will remain with the Gearlink Kawasaki team riding one of the teams Ninja ZX-6R, stepping down from the Superbike class, to compete in Dickies British Supersport Championship where he has had much success in the past.
Westmoreland’s team mate for the season will be Ben Currie who competed in the Supersport class for Gearlink during 2017 and will be looking to improve on last years results.
Testing took place all day with sessions being held for all classes. The weather was changeable throughout the day until mid afternoon, reducing the amount of riders on track. With the weather improving everyone took to the track for session three as the sun came out briefly.
On completion of session three ‘Westy’ was third overall setting a time of 1min 36.2secs. The first round will be held at Donington Park during the Bank Holiday weekend.
‘Westy’ said he was really proud to be staying at Gearlink Kawasaki for 2018.
