
Pupils at Swinemoor Primary School in Beverley are embracing additional learning after the school introduced the Swinemoor Graduate Award Programme.
Head Teacher, Leon Myers, says the incentive has provide popular with the pupils at his school as they look earn awards in range of topics including History, English and Music.
Speaking about the Swinemoor Graduate Award Programme, Mr Myers said;
“Our children receive an outstanding grounding in basic skills, including reading, writing, spelling, grammar, mathematical understanding and confidence in the expressive arts.”
“This knowledge-based Graduate Awards Programme is designed to compliment this and appeal to the children’s scholarly aspirations.”
Introduced in January this year, pupils from the school study in their own time. They currently can earn an award in Science, Music, English Literature and Geography with plans to soon introduce Design & Technology and Art.
To help with their studies the school has created a number of artefacts that are presented in display cases for the students to study.
On completing their studies, pupils sit a test and if successful they ‘Graduate ‘and are given a special badge to mark their achievements.
Mr. Myers added;
“Upon graduation, they will receive a badge which they can wear on their school uniform with pride.”
“This will further demonstrate to their peers, parents, school visitors and the wider community just how dedicated they are to their studies.”
