Hot on the heels of the successful Beverley 10k race, Beverley AC is excited to announce the forthcoming launch of its first ‘Couch to 5k’ beginners running programme.
Starting this Wednesday 16 May 2018 the 15-week course will be run by UKA qualified coach, Patrick Marshall, who will be assisted by members of the club to help newcomers to running to achieve the goal of a 5-kilometre run.
Structured, the course will build up gently each week, ensuring different rates of improvement are taken into account and supported along the way.
This will offer an ideal opportunity for people curious about running from the complete beginner and people wishing to get more active to those who wish to set themselves a new challenge and people returning to running after a break. The programme is organised in conjunction with Beverley’s largest, friendliest and most supportive club and is designed to be fun and social.
The Couch to 5k course will culminate in the completion of a 5k run at Peter Pan Parkrun, Hull on Saturday 2nd September. This is a small and friendly parkrun in which all members of the running community join together each Saturday morning to enjoy a run. Runners of all abilities are actively encouraged to participate in this welcoming environment.
The course will run on a Wednesday evening from 7pm at Beverley Leisure Centre. The cost will be £15 in total and any runner choosing to join the club following completion of the course will receive a £15 discount on their first year’s membership fee.
