Classically Yours, the award-winning arts initiative launched by East Riding of Yorkshire Council as part of the Hull 2017 City of Culture year, has won extended funding from the Arts Council to continue its work to increase the amount of high quality music available in the county and to encourage more anticipation in arts and culture.
The £96,000 award will cover the period September 2018 until March 2020 and there will be a unique multi-storey car park concert in Beverley to launch the programme.
The London-based Multi-Storey Orchestra started in 2011 and brings amazing live classical music experiences to amazing locations – from car parks to schools and festivals. Two years ago the orchestra won a prestigious Royal Philharmonic Society award in recognition of its work and also appeared at the Proms for the first time.
On Saturday September 8, the orchestra will be performing within the multi-storey car park at Beverley’s out of town retail park, the Flemingate Centre.

The concert starts off with musicians spread across the car park, with the audience free to explore and get involved; finding out about the music and meeting the orchestra, before everyone comes together for a full performance of Schumann’s Second Symphony.
The concert by the Multi-Storey Orchestra, conducted by Christopher Stark, begins at 5pm; tickets cost £6 (adults) and £5 (children) and are available from Beverley Library or call 01262 678258 or visit bridspa.com
