Butterflies Memory Loss Support Group have been presented with a £250 donation after members of the Beverley Building Society elected them as their charity of the month.

Butterflies Memory Support Group are a local charity who provide special workshops for people of all ages who suffer or show the signs of memory loss.

June Cooke, from the charity visited the Beverley Building Society branch on Saturday Market to collect the prize. While there she explained more about the work the charity do in the community, she said;

“Butterflies Memory Loss Support Group provide a range of groups in Hull and East Riding since 2010 working with people who are experiencing memory loss and not been diagnosed yet and also people with dementia.”

“The money we have been presented with by Beverley Building Society will be used to provide activities for our groups. We do try to push the boundaries at these sessions and don’t just do bingo and dominoes.”

“For example, we had a birds of prey display and we bring the theatre in and offer workshops so that if people want to they can actually perform.”

June thanked the members of Beverley Building Society for voting for them, she said;

“It is amazing. It is really lovely to receive this funding. We totally rely wholly on donations as we do not get any support from service providers apart little pots of money now and again.”

Graham Carter from Beverley Building Society said;

“We wish Butterflies Memory Loss Support Group all the best with their future and the work they do in the community. We’re glad that the Society’s donation can help support the continuation of the charities support groups.”

Local charities wishing to put themselves for the monthly draw should visit the branch or call 01482 881510.
