Humberside Police are appealing to the public for information relating to a theft from a pensioner in Beverley.

In statement released police say they would like to talk with a man who tricked a lady into her passing him her debit card.

Humberside Police said;

“We’re looking for a man who allegedly posed as a post office worker to con a 76-year-old woman at her home on Lairgate in Beverley.”

“The incident happened around 9.30am on 25 July 2018. The suspect claimed he was from the post office and the woman needed to pay a postage fee by debit card.”

“He took her card and walked away with it. He later used it to withdraw hundreds of pounds from a local Tesco supermarket ATM on Morton Lane.”

“The man was dressed in a red t-shirt, with black shorts and shoes. He was white, about 40 years old, around 6 ft tall, lightly tanned, and clean shaven with short dark hair,”

“We want to issue a warning to look out for anyone who may seem suspicious, and advise that you always ask for identification.”

“If you’re unsure always check. Never hand over any money, your personal details, or allow them into your home before you’re confident they are who they say they are.”

Anyone with information relating to this incident should contact police on 101 quoting reference 16/78364/18.
