A £995,000 scheme to improve roads in the Beverley area has now been completed.
A number of busy roads and mini roundabouts in Beverley’s town centre, as well as a road in Leconfield, were resurfaced as part of the East Riding of Yorkshire Council project.
The road surfaces at each of the sites were badly worn, but they have been given a new lease of life thanks to the work carried out over the spring and summer months.
Resurfacing work was carried out in North Bar Within, Beckside, Lairgate, Morton Lane and its junction with new Walkergate.
Mini roundabouts in New Walkergate and Lord Roberts Road, a section of parking bays at the top of Norwood, and also a stretch of the A164 north of Leconfield were also resurfaced.
The work, which started in May, was carried out by council contractors Tarmac Trading Ltd.
Councillor John Barrett, the council’s portfolio holder for operational services said:
“These new road surfaces are a big improvement and should last for years to come.
“We want to thank residents, traders and motorists for their patience while the work was carried out, but I’m sure drivers are already feeling the benefits of the new smoother roads.”
The project was one of many road improvements carried out across the East Riding by the council over the past four months.
