The East Riding of Yorkshire Model Show takes place this weekend with big crowds once again expected to attend the model spectacular at Driffield Showground.

Hosted by the local model club for the area, Bridlington & Wolds Scale Model Club, the show  includes a range of displays, activities and also specialist stalls.

Visitors to the show which takes place on Sunday 2 September from 9.30AM to 4PM can enjoy what is a perfect day for the family with U15s gaining free access when accompanied by an adult.

While the event is aimed at model enthusiasts, the quality of the work display at the event make for a very unique look into niches from aeroplanes through to radio controlled boats.

Organisers will also have a workshop set up where youngsters can try out model making with ‘Make and Take’ – building a model of Spitfire using materials like this and taking it home free of charge.

Lee Hayward, a model maker says he is looking forward to spending the day with his family at the event, he said;

“The East Riding of Yorkshire Model Show is a great event for us to have in this area. Many model clubs from around the UK make the effort and  come along to display their work.”

“Model making has a lot of local links to this region. For years Humbrol and Airfix were producing kits and paints in Hull, and there are new specialist suppliers based in East Yorkshire.”

“As an event it is very family friendly, there is so much to see and the club make a real effort with getting the children involved.”

Stalls at the event also prove popular, they sell a range of model kits, reference books and accessories used by people to complete their builds.

Parking onsite is free with entry to The East Riding of Yorkshire Model Show just £3.50 (accompanied children U15 are free of charge).
