Leven Playing Field Association have thanked Tesco for their support in paying for an £80,000 incentive to renovate a park for local children.

Fundraiser Kathy Noble thanked Tesco and their customers after they were awarded £2,000 in the stores Bags of Help draw.

Store manager Chris Beamish and community champion Dave Ryley visited the park last week to see how much difference the grant has made.

Commenting on the award and project Kathy said;

 “Work has now been completed at Leven Play Park which was opened on the 15 September.”

“Children and families in Leven now have a brand new state-of-the-art play area, after an £80,000 refurbishment programme.”

“Improvements to the site include a brand new toddler play area, swings and two climbing orbits with slides poles, plus a new seating area for parents.”

Expressing her thanks to those who backed the project Kathy says that the exposure by being involved with Bags of Help raised the profile of their project, she said;

“Many thanks to the customers of Tesco’s Beverley store for voting for our project in the Bags of Help customer vote last September/October.”

“After winning £2,000 for the refurbishment of Leven’s Children’s Play Park, news of the fundraising campaign spread. This resulted in a community fundraising group being set up to raise funds through community run events.”

“This soon raised over £5000 and awards from a number of other funding streams resulted in over £80,000 being secured to complete the refurbishment.”

“What began as being a campaign to refurbish the Play Park has grown into something far bigger, in that we have come together as a community working together towards the same aims and goals.”

“I would recommend Bags of Help to anyone wanting to raise funds for their project. It was a fantastic platform and a big part in making our campaign such a success.”

“Thank you to Tesco for being such a great support to our project.”

Tesco are looking for more projects to back that help improve and the lives of local residents and the wider community.

Later this month Tesco will be holding a Meet The Funder Day giving local groups an opportunity to see how they can benefit from Bags of Help.
