The RICS Hull and East Yorkshire Local Member Group has joined forces with both Gosschalks and Proctors to host a seminar on energy efficiency in commercial buildings. The event is on Tuesday 6 November at Gosschalks in Queens Gardens, Hull.
Gosschalks’ Head of Property and Real Estate, Mark Teal has worked in this area for over twenty years and specialises in general commercial property and development work. He will cover the following items: excuses, exemptions and exceptions.
Nick Proctor, Principal of Proctors is a Level 4 Accredited Non-Domestic EPC Assessor and commercial property consultant. He has acted in this role since 2008 when the legislation first emerged.
Proctors have surveyed over six million square feet of property and advised companies on issues arising from Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) and Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards (MEES).
Nick will cover explain what MEES and a non-domestic EPC is about Important dates to be aware of, the implications and he will recommend a strategy.
Simon Delaney from Delaney Marling Partnership helps to run these local events. He says:
“This will be an excellent event for landlords, investors, developers and lenders. As from April this year a new legal standard for minimum energy efficiency applies to rented commercial buildings. This brings threats and opportunities as it has reduced the rating from A – G to A – E which means some buildings cannot be rented out unless they meet the standard.”
“As a firm of Chartered Building Surveyors, we have clients who have encountered issues with this new regulation. Anyone in a similar position or, who works in this area will benefit from attending.”
