Organisers of the East Riding Festival of Words say the event will return in 2019 after it proved to be a big success.
Held in Beverley and other locations across the county, the East Riding Festival of Words featured over 40 events.
450 people who attended the event completed a survey which revealed they had a positive experience. The survey also showed that 85pc of those who attended would recommend the event to other people.
East Riding of Yorkshire Council said they were delighted with the feedback. They added that the survey also showed how popular the event was.
In a statement they said;
“We are delighted that the research commissioned into the Festival of Words has proved how popular and successful the event was.”
“Particularly we are pleased to be able to announce that the Festival of Words will definitely return in 2019. A full programme will be unveiled with dates in due course.”
“Our research has shown that the majority of those who attended this year were library service members and from the local area.”
“We will now decide whether to engage more people from outside the area or simply expand the event. It’s a great position to be in.”
East Riding Festival of Words Proved So Popular it is Set To Return
Furthermore, organisers say that the event that took place in seven venues saw an increased tickets sales. While overall there was an increase of 20pc in people attending based on occupancy at the venues.
This was the first year the event had been run and featured a host of guests including author Val Wood. Val who bases her work on local locations recently marked 25 years of being a published author.
While it was an event was primarily based on literature it also music with a concert being staged at the Beverley Memorial Hall.
Details with regard to the East Riding Festival of Words 2019 while yet to be confirmed organisers are saying they want to bring in more big-name authors.
