Beverley Town boss Rich Jagger says his side must treat this weekend’s game with Chalk Lane as a cup final.
Jagger was speaking ahead of their Humber Premier League fixture which will see town welcome the Champions to Norwood.
Beverley Town goes into their first fixture of the New Year looking to keep their title hopes alive. To do so they will need to secure all three points on Saturday.
Speaking to Hu17.net Jagger said;
“Chalk Lane at the best team in the league. They will no doubt give us a tough game but I am confident we have enough to get the result.”
“We know that we need to win to stay in the title race. If we lose any hopes of winning the league will certainly be over.”
“In the past few weeks, we have put in a lot of good performances. We are the leagues leading scorers and we have a lot of pace in our side.”
“That pace and our ability to score mean we go into the match on Saturday full of confidence. We started our season against with a 1-0 defeat to Chalk Lane but we learnt a lot from that encounter.”
Jagger faces some selection issues ahead of the match. Matthew Spencer will come in for Olly Thane while Jamie Mist, Nathan White and Stuart Oliver may also miss out.
Clash With Champions Chalk Lane Needs To Be Treated As Cup Final
Beverley Town is currently third in the Humber Premier League. They are level on points with second place Chalk Lane though have played four more games.
Leaders Pocklington Town will face the ‘Peoples Club’ Hull United so Jagger knows nothing less than a win will do.
He added;
“We have to treat Saturday as a cup final. It’s all or nothing for us if we are to stay in the mix at the top of the table.”
“Last week we had a good number of people down to support us. It is a real help and we certainly hope these Saturday supporters will again turn out in force.”
