An exhibition of major historical milestones made entirely from Lego goes on display in Hull at the weekend.

Brick History tells the story of pivotal moments in world history using models created from the famous Danish toy.

The free exhibition from artist Warren Elsmore will go on display at the Hull History Centre on Saturday 12 January.

It brings to life key figures from Mozart to Martin Luther King, scientific discoveries from the Big Bang to DNA and recent history from mobile phones to the moon landings.

The exhibition has been brought to the centre by Hull City Council with support from the University of Hull.

University archivist Simon Wilson said: “This will be the first time Brick History has been exhibited in the Humber region. Securing the funding will allow us to offer the exhibition six days a week from Monday to Saturday for the entire two months”

Councillor Marjorie Brabazon, Chair of Hull Culture and Leisure Ltd, said;

“The History Centre has run its Lego and craft History Makers monthly events for a few years. Brick History builds on this and will be a great way of bringing history to life for children of all ages.

“I’d like to thank our partners the University of Hull for their help in bringing Brick History to Hull with the support of the History Centre Board.”

The exhibition will be open Monday to Saturday until Saturday 9 March next year.
