A start-up business in Beverley that helps improve the lives of dogs was celebrating after being named a regional finalist by the Federation of Small Business.
Fit4Dogs, a Hydro Therapy Centre was founded by Kirsty Skeates supports dogs and owners in Rehabilitation, Fun and Fitness.
Her unique idea has seen her attract attention from some of the leading UK females in business. Now their venture also earned them acknowledgement as one of the very best in our region.
Commenting on their success Kirsty said;
“We have only been going for around five months so for us it was a good achievement is such a short amount of time.
“As a business, we went through a nomination process and we were judged. Given the number of businesses put forward we were delighted to make the final four.”
“Since opening, we have been growing steadily by building relationships with local vets and other pet based businesses.”
Working With Dogs All Day Does Not Feel Like Work
“It does not feel like going to work when you get to swim and cuddle dogs every day. We build up a lot of trust with the dogs we treat and also personal bonds with them.”
“Recently we had an elderly dog, we all go so attached to her. Sadly she died recently so we set up a Tilly’s Fund. The idea of this is to support the treatment of rescue dogs.”
“Her owners kindly donated their remaining sessions and also we as the centre has matched the each of the sessions.”
“One of the key reasons owners bring their dog to us is to tackle weight loss. This is a big issue as a large proportion of dogs are overweight.”
“As with humans, this can lead to a whole array of medical conditions including heart disease arthritis and diabetes.”
