Cycle4Life Challenge Week Kicks Off In Beverley With Bike Fest

A week-long festival of cycling will be held across the East Riding in June. Its aim is to encourage people of all ages to get on their bikes.

The annual Cycle4Life Challenge Week, now in its fifth year, will involve six days of bike-themed events. It will feature fun challenges and activities on two wheels for families, schoolchildren and school staff.

The week launches with a Bike Fest in Beverley on Sunday 16 June. This event will feature displays by stunt riders. Also, it will give youngsters and adults to ride go-karts and weird and wonderful bicycles.

Also, pupils from across the East Riding will take part in two school cycle challenges. While teachers will saddle up for a 100km (60-mile) ride across the Yorkshire Wolds.

Meanwhile, refugees living in the area who have been learning cycling skills as part of a road safety scheme will be taking part in a bike ride around Beverley.

Families Encouraged To Embrace Cycle4Life Challenge Week

The Cycle4Life Challenge Week is organised by East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s road safety and public health teams. They want to promote cycling as a fun and healthy activity for all the family – and a great way to get around the East Riding.

Paul Bellotti, director of communities and environment at East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said;

“Our Cycle4Life Challenge Week is now in its fifth year. We’re certainly pleased to put on another fantastic week of events. These events give children and adults the chance to take part in some fun, healthy cycling activities.

“We hope the events will inspire and encourage families to get out on their bikes. It’s a great way of improving fitness and getting around the East Riding to see some of the amazing places and beautiful countryside we have in our area.”

Cycling is a great way to stay fit. Beverley recently welcomed some of the best riders in the world as the Tour de Yorkshire passed through the town.
