National Poetry Day 2019 To Be Celebrated In Bridlington

On National Poetry Day, Thursday 3 October, Bridlington Central Library in King Street will be throwing open its doors to any poets in the area.

The public is being invited to bring any books in, read their own poetry or their favourite poetry, or simply enjoy sitting and listening to poetry.

The free event starts at 10am and runs throughout the day, until 3pm.

Sarah Hutchinson, the librarian, said;

Bridlington is an absolute epicentre of poetic talent.”

“We thought this would be an opportunity for local poets to get together and share their work.”

“Also to get people to come along sit and enjoy hearing people’s poignant, funny, sad or life-changing poems.”

“But writing poetry can be a lonely calling and this event gives authors a chance to share their work with poetry-loving people – bringing the words to life and giving people a chance to enjoy new company.”

Bridlington Central Library is open on Mondays from 9.30am -5pm; Wednesdays from 9.30am – 6pm; Thursdays from 9.30am – 3pm; and on Saturdays from 9.30am -1pm.
