Parkway Cinema in Beverley has been recognised as one of the best small cinemas in the country.

News that they have been named finalists in the Screen Awards for Cinema of the Year has been welcomed by general manager Cliff Baillie.

Beverley Parkway Cinema opened in December 2015. They have six screens while they currently employ 23 people.

Their nomination comes in the 24 screens of less category, commenting on the news Mr Ballie said;

“It is so exciting to be recognised as one of the top four small cinemas in the country. I know some of the cinemas who are also on the shortlist and it is quite inspiring to be rubbing shoulders with them.”

“It is the industry nominating us which in such a vibrant industry makes us feel both humble but proud of our team and our customers who make the cinema.”

“It is the second time since we opened 4 years ago that we have been a finalist. I hope it means we have been successful in some of our aims. These are to be a cinema Beverley can proud of and to be part of a wonderful community.”

Located at the Flemingate Retail Park, The Parkway Cinema has been a real success story.

Not only do they show your normal blockbuster movies they also host live shows and contribute to local events.

Parkway Cinema Beverley Nomination Good News For The Town

Mr Ballie added;

“This is not just good news for us it is also good for Beverley. Everything that puts our wonderful town on the map is a bonus especially when the focus can on things can be southern centric”

Run by the UK Cinema Association, they say that the quality and level of entries was higher than ever.

As a result of this getting on the shortlist for the finals is an even more exceptional achievement.

Beverley Parkway Cinema will now have to wait to see if they are named overall winners.

The result of the competition will be announced Screen Awards event in Central London on Thursday 28 November.
