Medical illustrator Annamaria Dutto will be in Beverley where she will give a talk at the Treasure House.

The artist will describe how she became involved in this area of work. During her talk, she will present an interesting insight into the medical illustration profession.

Education officer Sarah Hammond said;

“It goes without saying that someone working in this field needs visual design and illustration skills. But it may also surprise some that the artist also needs a good knowledge of biology, anatomy and physiology.”

“Medical research has to be carried out in order to produce the images commissioned for medical textbooks. It is also used to produce publications and pamphlets for patient information.”

The artist will describe how she became involved in this area of work. While she will also talk about her amazing projects and her special interests.

Annamaria will show how a medical illustrator’s role is to create visual images that cleverly communicate medical and biological information.

As a professional medical illustrator, Annamaria has covered most aspects of medical illustration.

Medical Illustrator Has Worked With Leading Publishers

She has provided artwork for leading medical publishers covering Anatomy and physiology, surgery, nursing and health.

Her work involves using traditional techniques. These include hand-rendered pieces in pen and ink, pencil, coloured pencils, watercolour and gouache paint.

She also uses digital techniques to produce her artwork using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.

Annamarie says that the goal of her work is to produce work that shows off the complexity of the human body. While she also aims to convey its aesthetic beauty and form.

Publishers within the industry describe the artist as a very skilled and gifted illustrator.

The talk will take place on Saturday, 9 November from 2pm until 3.15pm, in the Education Room of the Treasure House.
