Beverley based sidecar team of Sam and Adam Christie travelled to Estoril in Portugal for the final round of the FIM Sidecar World Championship.
Free Practice got off to a great start with the team running consistently in the top 3.
Qualifying on Saturday Morning started in treacherous conditions and over the 2 sessions, Sam and Adam managed to qualify on the front of the second row in 4th position.
A 10 lap sprint race was held on Saturday evening and with mixed conditions, the brothers took a gamble with a last-minute tyre change.
The decision didn’t pay off to start with as Team Christie dropped to 10th and over 10 seconds behind the leaders.
Towards the closing stages of the race, the Beverley based team closed in on the leaders to finish an impressive 4th place, only 1.8s behind off the race win.
Sunday afternoon was the scene for the final race of the season with a 17 lap gold race.
Drama struck for the brothers on the second lap with a spin causing them to drop down to the last position.
This didn’t dampen their hopes of a good finish, they got going again and lapped consistently for the entire race.
On the 13th lap, they made great ground and made a move to go into 3rd position and held on until the flag.
A great result for the brothers with a podium finish and consolidating their 5th place in the championship.
Sam and Adam would like to thank everyone that has helped and sponsored the team this season, plans are already underway for the team to return to the world championship in 2020.
