A new name will bring a taste of authentic Italian pizza, pasta and gelato to Beverley’s Flemingate centre when it opens its doors later this month.
Work has begun to get new restaurant PizzaBaby ready for its big reveal on 22 November. A full and extensive refurbishment to follow in the New Year.
PizzaBaby is the latest venture to launch at Flemingate. It will offer a fresh, seasonal Italian menu and no less than 26 flavours of gelato!
The opening night will coincide with Flemingate’s exciting Christmas lights switch-on event.
PizzaBaby owner Louis Harrison, who lives in Walkington is anticipating a busy Christmas period. He is also looking forward to the new restaurant becoming a firm favourite with visitors to Flemingate.
He said:
“PizzaBaby will be a lively, family-orientated restaurant with an emphasis on children’s parties and family gatherings, really keeping the Italian feel of this restaurant alive. It will have a warm and welcoming atmosphere in quirky and cool surroundings, with outdoor heating so we can make full use of our pavement seating area.
“Flemingate is growing all the time, with more footfall and reasons to come to this part of the town centre. It’s the up and coming part of Beverley.
“It’s also the perfect location for us – being so close to leisure outlets such as Parkway Cinema and the Inflata Nation inflatable theme park and part of a busy shopping centre.
“We’ve begun a mini-refurbishment so we can join in with the Christmas festivities at Flemingate, then we’ve got big plans for a more extensive re-fit early in the New Year.”
Mr Harrison has extensive experience in the restaurant and leisure trade, with his family owning a number of businesses in Bridlington.
PizzaBaby adds further variety and choice to Flemingate’s line-up of restaurants and cafés.
David Donkin, Wykeland Property Director, said: “We’re delighted to welcome PizzaBaby to Flemingate. The concept is a really good fit with Flemingate’s family atmosphere and mix of retail outlets and leisure venues and we’re sure it will be very popular.
“Louis has a strong background in the leisure and hospitality industry and lives locally so he knows Flemingate and Beverley very well. It’s also great to see another locally-owned independent business joining the Flemingate community.”
PizzaBaby will open in the unit previously occupied by Wellington Pizza Pub. The owners of that business have closed the Flemingate branch as part of a refocusing of their interests in West Yorkshire, where the company is based.
PizzaBaby will employ a staff of 14, with many of the Wellington Pizza pub team being taken on by the new restaurant.
