Bus company East Yorkshire has started a new rush-hour bus journey from Beverley to Cherry Burton for commuters coming home from work.
The new journey began in November in response to a request from Graham Stuart to East Yorkshire buses.
Graham Stuart said:
“I was contacted by residents of Cherry Burton who work in Beverley and Hull. The last bus service back to Cherry Burton ran at 4.55pm, making it impossible for commuters who wish to use public transport to do so.”
“I raised this with East Yorkshire buses who were happy to see if there was anything they could do to help, and I am over the moon they have agreed to introduce an additional service from Beverley at 5.30pm for commuters travelling home.”
Ben Gilligan, Area Director of East Yorkshire buses said:
“At East Yorkshire, we recognise the importance of connecting rural areas to shopping, education and employment opportunities.”
“When Graham contacted us we looked at the resource we had available and found that we could fit this additional journey in between others. Bus services operate on a commercial basis so we would encourage as many people as possible to use it so that we can ensure that it is viable for the future.”
The Service 142 bus leaves Beverley Bus Station at 5.30pm and goes via Molescroft before arriving at Cherry Burton at 5.42pm.
Further journeys between Cherry Burton and Beverley are available to arrive in Beverley at 8.30am or to come back from Beverley just after school leaving time. Tickets can be bought on the bus using cash or a contactless card, and single, return and weekly tickets are available.
The full timetable can be found by visiting www.eastyorkshirebuses.co.uk or download the East Yorkshire Buses app, or by picking up a paper timetable leaflet from Beverley Tourist Information Centre.
It would be nice if this ran further to the likes of etton south Dalton and Holme on the would for older children wishing to come and go to town
