East Riding Leisure will be helping turn January RED in partnership with Hull & East Yorkshire Mind.
Red January promotes being active every day – this can be a brisk walk, taking the dog for a walk or something more energetic like a swim, run, jog, class or gym session.
Councillor Shaun Horton, the portfolio holder to tourism, culture and leisure, said;
“We all know the physical benefits of any exercise – but did you know the mental health benefits?”
“One in four of us have, or will experience, a mental health problem, so why not make the most of January and start the year as you mean to go on?”
“January can be a very hard time of year for many, and being active can help improve your mood and overall sense of well-being.”
Hull & East Yorkshire Mind will be visiting East Riding Leisure centres to help raise awareness of the support they offer to those who are living with poor mental health, and those who support them.
