Barratt David Wilson Homes and the Brough South Consortium has submitted a reserved matters application to East Riding of Yorkshire Council. The application is for the development of 225 new homes on land off Ings Lane, in Brough.
The proposed development forms part of Brough South, an exciting residential, retail and commercial development, delivering new opportunities to the already thriving town.
The application is one of three phases of residential development that will take place at Brough South, offering a selection of two, three and four-bedroom homes – creating high-quality homes for local people as well as people relocating to the area.
The £200m scheme has already seen the opening of a new primary school and the first phase of residential development is well underway.
A range of new retail and leisure facilities is being developed, including a supermarket by Aldi, adding to the appeal of this popular East Yorkshire town and enhancing the local economy.
Brough South is also further strengthening the local economy with the provision of hundreds of new jobs; many are already being created in the construction phase of the development, with many other permanent roles in the pipeline.
Work on the new homes will not begin until after the completion of phase three of Brough Relief Road, due in spring 2021.
Phase three will link the Humber Enterprise Park and Skillings Lane to Moor Road to provide a direct route to the A63 and reduce congestion in the town centre.
The Welton/Elloughton junction on the A63 is also scheduled for improvement in 2021 to accommodate the additional traffic associated with Brough South.
Liam Tate, Planning Manager at Barratt Developments Yorkshire East commented: “As well as building new homes and creating jobs, we always look to invest in and enhance our local communities, so they can develop and thrive. We’re excited to announce our phase two application to build 225 new homes at Brough South and look forward to keeping the community in Brough updated on progress.”
Ian Hodges, Managing Director of the Horncastle Group PLC, which is acting on behalf of the Brough South Consortium, said;
“David Wilson Homes is a nationally recognised premium brand and one that is synonymous with high quality, well-designed houses. We are extremely pleased to have David Wilson on board and look forward to seeing the next phase of development.”
