East Riding Theatre manager Sue Kirkman is hoping a collaborative venture between ten local venues can continue during the lockdown period.

Her comments come following a successful event held online which saw over 3,500 people tune in.

As a result of this success ERT will be playing their part in another one due to take place on 10 May.

Once again the event will be free to watch on YouTube and Twitch. They will also be an option for viewers to donate if they have enjoyed the broadcast.

All money raised will be distributed equally among the 10 supporting venues. Venues that will benefit will include the East Riding Theatre in Beverley.

Sue Kirkman, manager of East Riding Theatre, hopes events like this will help the industry. She says the art world is navigating their way through some challenging financial times.

said;

“ERT has invested in a collaborative venture to engage the fantastic audiences who are the absolute lifeblood of the ten venues involved in this project.”

“During the first event, audiences in the North watched and donated in their droves.”

“For venues like ERT that has no major public funding. This is at a time when a great number of performers have had their livelihoods taken away overnight.”

“It is brilliant to be able to support artists, audiences and other independent venues in this way.”

East Riding Theatre Manager Hopes Incentive Will Continue To Grow

Sue is keen for the venture to continue and grow for as long as their doors remain closed to the public.

She added;

“It would be lovely to know that for as long as our doors have to remain closed, we can continue to connect with audiences.

“Bringing them big laughs from some of the UK’s best performers through the Your Place Comedy project.”
