Development Receives National Pride In The Job Award

Gary Nugent, Site Manager for McCarthy and Stone’s Springs Court development in Cottingham, is celebrating after picking up a coveted Pride in the Job Award from the National House Builders’ Council (NHBC), for the quality of the build there.

The Pride in the Job Awards recognise site managers across the country who are at the top of their profession and are creating homes of outstandingly high standards.

Gary was selected for his work at Springs Court in Cottingham from more than 11,000 entrants across the housebuilding industry, and will now go forward to compete for a further NHBC Seal of Excellence Award.

Springs Court is a McCarthy and Stone Retirement Living Plus development of 53 privately owned apartments, designed exclusively for the over-70s.

Currently, under construction and with sales due to be released in Winter 2020, the judging process saw spot checks carried out and a lengthy assessment process where Gary was scored over 44 areas of site management, including technical knowledge, consistency in the build process, leadership, and organisational skills.

Commenting on his award success, Gary who has been with the company for nine and a half years, said:

“At McCarthy and Stone, every last detail is considered throughout the building programme and I am proud to lead a construction team that shares a commitment to quality in every aspect of our work. This ethos ensures that we work together to consistently deliver completed developments of the highest standards and it is fantastic that this has been recognised at an industry level.”

Despite the numerous challenges the industry has faced in recent times, Gary is pleased to now be back on site at Springs Court and progressing with the build again. The development will feature a communal lounge, beautifully landscaped gardens as well as a bistro-style restaurant providing freshly prepared meals and refreshments daily. A dedicated Estates Manager will oversee the running of the development and tailored support services will be available to be introduced at any time to provide added peace of mind for the future.

“The development is within walking distance of the town centre and all of its amenities so is a great location for those that like to lead an active lifestyle”, says Gary.

“In recent months it’s become more important than ever to feel like we have a support network around us and to be able to call on help if we need it. Our developments are fantastic communities, full of like-minded,  thriving individuals that look out for one another and where independent living and flexible support go hand-in-hand. I’m pleased to be able to get back to what I love doing most and that’s delivering high-quality new homes that enrich our customer’s lives and help them to enjoy their retirement to the full.”

Gary’s recent success at Springs Court in Cottingham adds to previous Pride in the Job recognition for his work at The Laureates development in Cottingham, and a Seal of Excellence award he received for his work at the Andrews Court development in Beverley.

McCarthy & Stone’s outstanding build quality is one of the reasons why it has achieved the full five-star customer service satisfaction rating from the Home Builders Federation (HBF) for 15 consecutive years.  It is the only UK developer, of any size or type, to achieve this accolade every year the awards have been run.
