Positive Month For Christie Brothers In British Championships

August has been a positive month for Beverley based sidecar racers of Sam and Adam Christie with strong results at the 2 rounds of the British Championship.

Cadwell Park was the venue for the opening round with 2 qualifying sessions and 2 races being the main focus.

Team Christie qualified a great 4th position out of 18 outfits and held this position in the opening race on Saturday held over 14 laps. Sunday’s race was to be more difficult for the brothers with a poor start and reduced laps but claiming their way back to 5th position to go into Round 2 in 4th position in the championship.

Snetterton was the circuit for Round 2 of the British Championship. A strong grid of sidecars with the best of British on show would prove to be a very competitive weekend.

Sam and Adam took 5th position in the qualifying with their last flying lap proving to be the fastest. The first race of the weekend was to be red-flagged with the Christie’s lying in 5th place for the majority with the red flag elevating them to 4th.

The second race of the weekend saw the reverse grid feature instated so 7th position on the grid was the team’s starting position. An initial slow start dropped the brothers to 9th but with some quick thinking and overtaking they moved up to 2nd at the end of lap 1.

The Christie’s looked strong and took the lead on lap 2 and tried hard to get away at the front. They were relegated to 3rd at the end of lap 3 and pushed hard to stick with the leading group but were caught and passed on the penultimate lap to cross the line in 4th.

The opening rounds have shown the pace of Beverley based team and have been rewarded with 3rd in the championship going into the next round to be held at Knockhill over 19/20 September.
