East Riding of Yorkshire Council is consulting on a Draft Flood Risk Sequential and Exception Test Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) from Monday, 18 January to Friday, 5 March 2021.
Supplementary planning documents provide more detailed advice or guidance on the application of policies in the East Riding Local Plan. The current Local Plan provides for the amount, location and type of development in the East Riding until the year 2029. The Local Plan is currently being reviewed.
The Draft Flood Risk Sequential and Exception Test SPD will provide a step by step guide for applicants, planning officers, and developers on how the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) sequential and exception tests for flood risk will be applied within the East Riding of Yorkshire when preparing and determining planning applications.
It will also assist in the application of the Local Plan Strategy Document Policy ENV6 Managing Environmental Hazards.
Once adopted, the SPD will become a material consideration in determining relevant planning applications in areas of flood risk.
This will be a largely digital consultation in line with the Coronavirus amendments to national planning regulations.
The draft SPD, response form and accompanying screening document for strategic environmental assessment and habitats regulations assessment are available to view online at www.eastriding.gov.uk/spd
For those without access to the internet, hard copies of the consultation documents are available on request by calling Forward Planning at (01482) 391729.
People can respond to the consultation by emailing forward.planning@eastriding.gov.uk or in writing by completing the response form and sending to Forward Planning, East Riding of Yorkshire Council, County Hall, Cross Street, Beverley, East Riding of Yorkshire, HU17 9BA.
All responses to the consultation will be made publicly available to view on the council’s website and should be received on or before Friday, 5 March 2021.
