Ideal Heating, experts in heating and hot water solutions is working with recruitment consultancy Emmerson Kitney to appoint 10 skilled engineers as part of a team within the new environmental division working on the development of industry-leading products that will contribute to the UK’s net-zero target.

With jobs available in both the design team and development team, the new roles will be based at the company’s Research and Development (R&D) Centre of Excellence on National Avenue in Hull, where they will work on the creation of a range of new products.

The successful applicants will be instrumental in helping the UK achieve its net-zero target by 2050.

As market leaders in the industry, Ideal Heating is at the forefront of developing and providing environmentally friendly, low carbon alternatives to homes across the UK.

Phil Kent, R&D director of combustion at Ideal, says: “We’re excited about the future; our long history in the heating industry means we are well-positioned to take advantage of new technologies and new markets. These new roles trigger the start of our ambitious growth plan over the next five years and there will be more roles to come.”

The environmental team at Ideal Heating will also be working on innovative air source heat pumps, which are designed to absorb heat from the outside air in order to heat homes and provide hot water.

David Kitney, managing director of Emmerson Kitney, says: “The opportunity to be a part of an industry-leading business during such an interesting and innovative time doesn’t come around often, and it’s brilliant that these types of roles are available right here in Hull.

“In the current climate, during which many businesses are making redundancies, it’s great news that we are again supporting Ideal Heating with filling a number of new engineering roles, with more set to be available in the near future.

“It’s important the Humber region continues to house highly skilled jobs such as these which helps retain and attract much-needed talent into the region.

“The role of a design engineer will involve a wide range of responsibilities, including leading design aspects of various R&D projects, helping to define product specification, and providing solutions to design problems whilst liaising closely with suppliers and cross-functional team members.

“For this job, applicants need to have knowledge of 3D CAD and have a logical mind with the ability to analyse and evaluate information quickly and accurately. It’s also important they have an understanding of product design and generation from concept through to product implementation, with relevant qualifications – preferably HNC/ HND or degree qualified.

“The development engineers will contribute to continuous improvement, ensuring ongoing review of technology processes and outcomes. They will also be instrumental in ensuring our products are tested to meet stringent legislative and regulatory requirements.

“Here we are looking for engineers who have experience in the development and testing of products.”

Specialising in finding hard to fill talent, Emmerson Kitney has worked with Ideal Heating for a number of years, recruiting over 25 members of staff in the past few years alone. With a wealth of experience and in-depth knowledge of the local market, the business is the partner of choice for businesses across the Humber region.
