It’s been a tough year, particularly for families with new babies who are vulnerable and struggling financially.

Little Monkeys, is no stranger to helping the local community and charities, has started supporting Bundles of Joy to help disadvantaged families enjoy some “normality”.

Bundles of Joy, a specialist baby charity based in Beverley, aim to alleviate poverty by supplying donated items to those in need.

Little Monkeys is the indoor soft play centre at Active+, formerly known as Hull Indoor Leisure Centre, National Avenue.

In 2019, with the help of the charity Aim Higher, they raised funds to create Beetle’s Sensory Den.

It’s a room dedicated to developing cognitive, motor, language and problem-solving skills in toddlers, babies and SEN children.

The Den is an ideal space for those children who struggle with sensory overload and it can accommodate two adults and three small children, creating a calming space to relax and play.

Bundles of Joy recipients will now receive a voucher to experience the Sensory Den without having to worry about the cost.

“We are always looking for different charities to work with,” says Active+ Operations Director, Dawn Sedman.

“In the last 20 years we have worked with many local charities and we felt Bundles of Joy was an excellent charity to support.

“We’re looking forward to working with them in many other ways,” concluded Dawn.

Claire Raper, founder and manager of Bundles of Joy said:

“Thank you to the wonderful team at Active+ and Little Monkeys for such a generous donation.  The sensory room provides the kind of stimulation that is critical for cognitive development, social interaction and skills-based learning, but when families are struggling to make ends meet this kind of activity is a luxury they simply cannot afford.

These vouchers will give them a chance to enjoy a fun and rewarding experience without having to worry about the cost.”
