Shepherd’s Rest Site Manager Scoops National Pride In The Job Award

East Yorkshire home builder Risby Homes has been recognised once again by the National House Building Council (NHBC) for its excellence, this time in its Pride in the Job Awards.

NHBC, the UK’s leading new homes warranty, and insurance provider, has announced this year’s winners of its flagship Pride in the Job Awards. It recognises site managers who have achieved the very highest standards in house building across the UK.

Carl Hess, site manager at Risby Homes’ Shepherd’s Rest development in Beverley is a proud recipient of the award, he was selected from a field of more than 10,000 site managers. A testament to his commitment to delivering high-quality homes for Risby’s home buyers, this news is yet another reason for the family firm to celebrate.

Carl is well experienced in construction. On his tools for 15 years as a bricklayer and with 30 years of site management experience, he takes tremendous pride in his work, ensuring the highest standards are achieved throughout the building process of all properties.

Olly Barrett, Construction Director at Risby Homes, said:

“We’re delighted Carl’s work has been recognised. Here at Risby Homes, we take great pride in what we do and this competition celebrates the important role site managers play in ensuring new homes are delivered safely, on time, and to exacting construction quality standards.

“While this is an award for Carl, it’s also recognition of the entire team who work with him on the Shepherd’s Rest site, a team we’re incredibly proud of.”

Since company owner Mark Barrett built his first development in Beverley in 1993, Risby Homes has become a family affair, with deep-rooted values at the heart of its business.

The Quality Award winners will go on to compete for Seal of Excellence and Regional Awards in the autumn, with the national, Supreme Award winners unveiled in January 2022.

Commenting on the Awards, NHBC Chief Executive Steve Wood said:

“Pride in the Job has been pivotal in improving the quality of new homes for more than 40 years. Despite the numerous challenges the industry has faced, the very best site managers of 2021 have remained focused on delivering high-quality new homes for their customers.

“Congratulations to all the 2021 Pride in the Job Quality Award winners – be proud of what you are building and the standards you are setting.”
