Local housebuilder, David Wilson Homes has welcomed Kingston upon Hull West and Hessle MP, Emma Hardy, to its Hessle development after its site manager landed a coveted industry award.
Emma Hardy MP was given a tour of the 198-home Hesslewood Park development off Jenny Brough Lane by the site manager, Paul Dearnley following his National House Building Council (NHBC) Pride in the Job Quality Award win for his vital role in maximising the quality and consistency of the site’s new homes.
Accompanied by the housebuilder’s Managing Director, Daniel Smith, Paul Dearnley gave Ms Hardy the opportunity to take a closer look at the development’s show homes, which have been designed and built to balance a traditional aesthetic with modern, flexible living spaces.
During the development tour, the local MP expressed a keen interest in the housebuilder’s partnership with the RSPB, which has seen a number of features introduced to allow local wildlife to thrive across the development. One of these features, the inclusion of hedgehog highways, enables hedgehogs to move easily between gardens through a small gap built into garden fences, walls and hedges.
The site tour also allowed the local MP to view the quality of the affordable housing brought to Hessle by Barratt Developments Yorkshire East. David Wilson Homes’ Hesslewood Park and Barratt Homes’ Fleet Green development opposite comprise a total of 355 new homes, with 88 of those set to be made available on either affordable rent or shared ownership basis.
Emma Hardy, Member of Parliament for Kingston upon Hull West and Hessle, said:
“It was a real privilege to be given such an in-depth tour of Hesslewood Park, which has brought some much needed high-quality new homes to Hessle. The houses I saw on my visit are of an exceptional build standard and just as important is the work taking place to ensure local wildlife can also flourish within the community. Paul and his team deserve great credit for their attention to detail and their commitment to ensuring Hessle has a growing community to be proud of.”
Daniel Smith, Managing Director at Barratt Developments Yorkshire East, added:
“We were honoured to welcome Ms Hardy to Hesslewood Park, where we’ve proven just how effectively we’re able to build a variety of high-quality homes to meet the needs of the people of Hessle and Hull. Paul and his team take a great deal of pride in their work on a daily basis, and it was great to be able to highlight many of the standout features of the development which will benefit local wildlife and residents alike.”
