Genuine Gents on Beverley’s Butcher Row is marking its first full year of trading with increased business, more skilled staff and stellar five-star reviews.
“We have always believed we would be able to weather the Covid storm and come out successfully on the other side,” said salon owner Ozgur Dogan, who works alongside trained barbers Brian Nosa and his brother Juan, who recently joined the business.
“Even when things were at their worst with Covid – and most businesses have been through that – we knew we would survive. And as long as we hung in there and kept the quality high, the prices competitive and invested in our staff and skills and customer service the success would come.”
And Genuine Gents is achieving just that with a total five-star review rating on Google and Facebook from all its customers who have come away suitably impressed.
“Great haircut, beard shape and trim, great value for money, including hot towels, shoulder and arm massage, hair wash which I haven’t experienced at any other barbers, would 100% recommend this barbers, lovely staff and offer drinks,” said Joseph Lines on Facebook.
“Brilliant service, really enjoyed (the) experience, left feeling really refreshed. Highly recommended,” said Mark Taylor, also on Facebook, along with this from Claire Ham: “Had a lovely Turkish tea whilst my son had his haircut and washed! Great service and haircut – thanks.”
For Mr Dogan, who lives in Beverley with his family, Genuine Gents is a home from home.
“This is a family and community-oriented place where all are welcome,” added Mr Dogan. “And while we wanted to offer the very best cuts and men’s hairdressing, and have a scrupulous attention to detail, there are also the other little things such as offering a cup of tea or coffee and Turkish delight on arrival; we are genuinely interested in our customers.”
Mr Dogan points to Genuine Gents’ excellent quality and range of its full barber’s service as the bedrock of their success.
All of this has translated into increased business for the young company, says Ozgur, with Genuine Gents custom buoyed by the Euros, the Olympics and Britain’s ‘staycation’ boom.
“Business has also been helped by the return to schools after the summer holidays and more employees now returning to the office and employers’ premises,” he added.
“We are always looking at ways of improving the business, our services and customer care, including special promotions.”
