East Riding Libraries are encouraging residents to ‘Get reading, Get listening and Get watching’ for Get Online Week 2021, which runs from Monday, 18 to Sunday, 24 October.
During the week, there will be members of the library team on hand at sessions in Beverley and Bridlington North and on the Gilberdyke Mobile Library.
These sessions will help anyone to start using the huge digital library of eBooks, audiobooks, digital newspapers, magazines and streaming services available completely FREE to East Riding Library members.
By providing these workshops, the friendly libraries team hope to make the range of services more accessible to more people and help anyone who is struggling to get online.
East Riding Libraries offer free WiFi, internet access and computer use at all locations throughout the East Riding and it’s free to join the Library.
Gary Smith, Digital Services Officer, said: “We wanted to build on the development and success of our digital resources during and after the pandemic lockdowns. There are many people who are still cautious to visit public places and the digital library offer provides a safe option to continue benefitting from this community service.
“Reading, listening, and watching cultural events for pleasure all have great health benefits such as improved mood and stress reduction, and it’s also an opportunity for people to try a new online experience that develops their digital skills.”
Sessions are being held at two libraries and one mobile library. Customers can bring their own tablet or smartphone and connect to the free libraries WiFi, or just try the resources on the library tablets.
