Did You Know You Don’t Need A Permit To Shop At Dove House’s Re-Use Shop?

The Re-Use Shop is located next to the Humberfield Household Waste Recycling Centre Site in Hessle and is open to the general public seven days a week.

Despite permits being introduced for East Riding to be able to use the local Waste Recycling Centre’s, you don’t need one to shop at Dove House’s Re-Use shop.

The shop is a treasure trove of unwanted items, such as furniture and electricals, all of which local residents had taken to waste and recycling sites across the region and donated for resale instead of sending them to be recycled or to landfill. From snooker tables to TV’s, golf clubs to antiques – the shop has sold them all!

The shop is operated by Dove House Hospice who joined forces with FCC Environment, Hull City Council and East Riding of Yorkshire Council, to generate much-needed funds whilst also making a significant difference to the environment by reducing the waste generated by the region.

Andy Frankish, Shop Manager at Re-Use Humberfield had this to say:

“We really want people to know that they can still shop at Re-Use even if they don’t have a permit for the Waste Recycling Centre, anyone can pop in and shop with us.”

“The items here are really good quality and there are lots to see as we get a good variety and diversity of stock. From bric a brac and collectables to household furniture, garden furniture, electrical items and tv’s.

People love to shop here and can easily spend an hour looking around at everything there is to see. There’s something here for everyone and well worth a visit if you’ve never been before. There’s a lot of bargains to be had!”

Regular shopper Peter had this to say:

“I like visiting Re-Use Humberfield because I like the variety of items that are always for sale, you never know what you’re going to stumble across and everything is always value for money.”

Residents visiting any of the waste sites in the region can donate to the shop by placing items that are in a saleable condition, into the container marked Re-Use; simply ask staff on the site for details of where the container is located and the kinds of items that we can accept. Alternatively, goods can be taken directly into the shop itself or donated to any Dove House Shop.

Humberfield Recycling Centre is located at Ferriby Road, Hessle, HU13 0JA and is open Monday – Friday 10am to 5pm.
