One Christmas tradition that is sure to be kept in most households is the presentation of gifts under the Christmas tree.
Whilst it looks pretty, your loved ones may not be the only people eager to grab an early glance at those Christmas day gifts.
With the average household spending £2500 on Christmas each year, thieves and burglars revel in the opportunity to see whether they can make use of or sell the gifts you’ve worked so hard to purchase your children, family and friends.
That’s why it is important you do everything to protect your home this festive season.
The Grinch may have stolen Christmas, but make sure burglars don’t steal yours, follow our top tips:
C – Can you plan ahead? If you’re going away do all you can to make it appear someone is home. Use your smart devices or timers to put on lights and music, ask a trusted neighbour to park their car on your
H- Home security systems are a great deterrent, make sure it’s working and set it when you leave the house.
R – Remember: Don’t leave valuables on show in your vehicle, the garden or in sheds.
I – If you see someone behaving suspiciously, report it.
S – Store any valuables or bags out of sight.
T – Think about where you position presents under the tree, try and put it somewhere they can’t easily be seen from outside the house.
M – Make sure your doors and windows are locked – especially if you’re in a different room.
A – Always park in a busy, well-lit car park
S -Storing those extra festive tipples, presents and goodies in the garage may free up space in the house, but make sure they can’t be seen through any windows and try not to leave the door open when you’re moving things in and out.
