Citizens Advice Hull & East Riding is calling for volunteers of all backgrounds to deliver advice and support to local people.

The charity is launching a January appeal for new recruits who can give their time to help people struggling with housing, benefits and employment issues.

Last year the charity supported 23,061 of people in Hull & East Riding. It can only do this work thanks to its 130 team of volunteers.

The charity says no experience is necessary as full training will be provided.

As well as volunteers to offer advice to people in person, online or over the phone there are opportunities for people to provide expertise such as research and campaign work or marketing skills to the charity.

Citizens Advice Hull & East Riding volunteers come from all walks of life and choose to volunteer for a variety of reasons. They include students; people getting back into work after career breaks; people with part-time jobs; carers; and people who have retired.

Volunteers are often looking for new ways to gain valuable experience and enhance their skills, or to enjoy the opportunity to work with and meet different people.

Lesley Thornley, Chief Officer at Citizens Advice Hull & East Riding said:

“We’re urging people to do something great this year and volunteer with Citizens Advice Hull & East Riding.”

“As well as doing something positive for the local community, we know people who give their time get a lot back, be it enjoying the camaraderie of working in a team, learning new skills or campaigning on issues that are important to them.”

“We’ll give you all the training you need and would love to hear from you.”
