On Sunday morning history will be made as 100 crews set off on the East Riding Stages Rally, the first closed road rally ever to have taken part in Yorkshire.

Based in Beverley, the drivers will tackle eight stages in the country lanes. Before finishing at Bishops Burton College at 15.34.

The first car away will be the reigning Motorsport News Circuit Rally Champions Mark Kelly/Neil Colman in a Ford Fiesta R5, followed by current MSN Championship leaders Neil Roskell/Andrew Roughead and Thomas Preston/Carl Williamson in similar R5’s too.

James Williams/Dai Roberts are bringing their Hyundai R5 from Wales, while Stephen Simpson/Patrick Walsh’s Ford Fiesta Rally2 is followed by last weekend’s Snetterton Rally winners David Henderson/Sion Cunniff in another Fiesta R5.

Starting at seven is John Stone/Cameron Fair in another R5, but this time the VW Golf version and they will be followed by multiple Scottish Champions David Bogie/Kevin Rae in the first two-wheel drive car, a Ford Escort Mk2.

Robert Swann/Darren Garrod’s Fiesta and Andy Fenwick/Rob Fagg’s Hyundai R5 complete the rest of the top 10.

Following Bogie in Class D will be Barry Renwick/Steve Dargan and Darren Atkinson/Phil Sandham’s Escort Mk2’s, while in Class C Alistair Hutchinson/Jordan English’s Renault Clio are first away, from local crew Ken Sturdy/Tom Hutchings in a Talbot Avenger.

Chris Ruck/Steve Harris head class B with a Vauxhall Corsa Kit Car, from  Christopher Lawson/Paul Gribben’s Corsa, while in Class A it’s Ash Slights/Dave Robson’s Escort from Mark/Andrew Constantine’s Corsa.

Yorkshire Rallying Legend Steve Bannister heads the Historic entry, with Callum Atkinson sharing his Mk2 Escort, followed by James Ford/Llion Williams’ Escort.
