Beverley Town Council has cancelled their planned event ‘Party in Pink’ due to a lack of ticket sales.
The event which was due to take place failed to sell enough tickets to make the event viable.
Beverley Town Council says that the sale of tickets may have been impacted by COVID-19 cases in the area.
In a statement released Beverley Town Council apologised for cancelling the event, they said;
“We regret to announce the cancellation of the Mayor of Beverley’s fundraising “Party in Pink”, which was due to take place on 2 April.”
“Despite lots of promotion in the local media, to date only around 20 tickets have been sold.”
“As 70 ticket sales are required to ensure the evening would be both successful and financially viable, it has been decided it will not be feasible to run the event.”
“Any raffle prizes already donated will be kept for a future fundraising initiative.”
“We are also aware that with Covid-19 cases once more on the rise, people are being understandably cautious, which may well be a contributing factor to the lack of ticket sales.”
“The Town Council would like to apologies for any disappointment caused.”
This was the second event in recent weeks cancelled by Beverley Town Council. They were forced to cancel a civic service due to take place last week as a result of COVID related issues.
I’ve just been looking at the make-up of Beverley Town Council; 43% are couples or family. Alison and Denis Healy (who live in Leconfield), Graham and Linda Johnson and Thomas and Peter Astell. All are Lib Dems (now anyway). How is there ever going to be an open, honest and fair discussion on policies when nearly half of the council are related through either blood or marriage?
