A group of local artists, photographers and craftspeople have come together to organise a sale of work to raise funds to support people fleeing the Ukrainian conflict.
Taking place at Toll Gavel Church Hall on Easter Saturday between 10AM and 4Pm it will feature donations from over 100 artists.
None of the artists who have donated original works will receive a commission on sales. All proceeds from the day will be given to Jacob’s Well which already has strong links with aid routes within the region.
Speaking ahead of the event Kay Coates said;
“As with so many people, a small group of friends have been devastated by the plight of people in Ukraine and felt we should do something to help if we could.”
“All of those involved are local amateur or professional artists or artisans. The idea to host the event was the brainchild of local Viewfinders Photographic Society member Lynne Wilson and myself.”
Lynne sent out an email to her friends and also fellow artists. The response was fast and overwhelming and as a result, they are able to stage such an event.
Kay added;
“The response has been astounding!”
“ Over 100 hundred artists and creators have responded with original watercolour and acrylic paintings, high-quality photographic prints, unique cards and craft pieces being donated.”
“The event has really taken off but to make it a success we need the public to turn up, of course.”
“Toll Gavel Church Hall is behind the Church in Central Beverley – an ideal place to browse on Easter Saturday.”
