There will be a major event taking place at East Riding Leisure Beverley on Sunday, 26 June, 2022, when many local organisations, sports clubs, and local residents will come together for the Ivan Usher Community Celebration from 10am to 3pm.
This event will take place as a partnership between the council’s health and wellbeing team, East Riding Leisure Beverley, and the Usher family, and it will pay tribute to the memory of Ivan Usher, after whom Beverley Town FC’s stand is named.
Prior to setting up and running a fitness centre in Beverley, Ivan taught PE at Longcroft School for approximately 30 years. Many people were inspired and influenced by him as a teacher and sportsman.
There will be several junior soccer and rugby tournaments on the day, with local clubs competing for the Ivan Usher Cup. Additionally, the public will be able to participate in a variety of sports and activities – details will be announced shortly.
Volunteer community groups will also be able to take part in the event and provide information about what is happening in the local area. Stallholders will not be permitted to sell any products at the event.
Health lifestyles development officer at East Riding of Yorkshire Council, Laura Hutchinson, said;
“We would like to hear now from any Beverley-based community group who would like to have a stall free of charge at our What’s On event as part of the Ivan Usher Community Celebration.
“This will be a great chance to get your message across to the people of Beverley and the surrounding area as to what you can offer the local community.”
There will be a limited number of stalls available, so those interested in registering early should contact laura.hutchinson @eastriding.gov.uk.
