Eleven boundaries from talented youngster Adam Pashby helped Beverley Town Cricket Club secure maximum points against South Holderness CC.

Beverley won the toss and opted to bat posting a score of 232, while Holderness in reply, was bowled out for just a 146.

When Pashby came to the crease his side was in real trouble at 50-4. His job on walking out there in the heat was to rebuild and put his side in a winning position.

By the time he walked off, he had scored 75 from 75 balls and Beverley had added another 150 runs to the total for the loss of just three wickets.

Beverley’s captain described 16-year-old Pashby’s performance on Saturday as ‘class’.

Commenting on his innings Pashby said;

“It was not the type of situation that I or the team wanted to be in. But as I went out there I just saw it as an opportunity to show my team and the club that I can perform under those pressures.”

“My skipper had total faith in me. He told me, I trust you to do well. So you go do and show what you are made off – so I did.”

In the blistering heat at the Norwood Recreation Ground Pashby rose to that challenge and was well supported by Will Harrison who racked up 52 runs.

When asked how he retained his focus and concentration in the soaring temperatures he said;

“I kept drinking water and talking to myself saying it’s all on me now I am going to win the game for my team.”

Middle Order Batters Will Harrison And Adam Pashby Praised By Skipper

“I thought I have to push forward for the team and try and get a winning score for my team. It was by pushing on and looking for runs that led to me being caught out.”

Skipper Matty Saint was thrilled with the result and also the performance of the team. He himself was the pick of the bowlers ending the day with a credible four wickets.

He said;

“It was great to get back with the lads and play a role in a big win. After a struggling up top with the bat, the lads in the middle order (Pashby and Harrison) gave us a respectable total to protect.”

“Knowing what we can do with the ball as a team we backed ourselves to bowl the opposition out. We managed in convincing style and secured all 10 points.”

“It was a good result, with some good individual performances in quite testing conditions.”
